Hi, ques. what would be left to do or check. if you hooked up a car amplifier when the protection light is on!

I wired everything that is suppose to. I even checked and made sure how my other car was done and the protection light still stays on. Help!!! I'm trying to take care of this instead of taking my car down to the car stereo shop.
