Explain how DNA sends a message about protein synthesis to the ribosomes.?

DNA codes for proteins with genes. The genes are transcripted (think "copied") from the DNA onto a building strand of messenger RNA or mRNA. This mRNA strand then meets up with the ribosome for translation into a polypeptide strand which then folds into the protein.
