Do Evangelical Protestants ever study the Early Church Fathers or Eenical Councils?

I am curious what Evangelical Protestants study. Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Christians MUST study scripture, the Early Church Fathers, Eenical Councils, modern and ancient languages. There seems to be much ignorance about theology prior to 1500.
